Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to dive into me and why I started this blog and what it will consist of. So my name is Gabby and I am a wife, daughter, sister, friend and chef. All of these aspects of my life are what have molded me into the woman I am throughout the years.
Growing up, I was the youngest out of five children and the only girl, yeah I know, you can feel my pain too. All kidding aside, my childhood was amazing, my parents are the hardest working, most supportive and loving people I have ever been blessed with in my life. They instilled values in us like honesty, loyalty, selflessness and humility to name a few. Did I follow these to a t when I was growing up? Not all the time, no, but now those values that I was taught as a young girl is what I focus on in my adulthood.
Most of my adolescence I was dedicated to being the best softball player I could be. This taught me how hard work and consistency can help you achieve your goals and dreams. It was many long practices, even longer tournament days and lots of miles driven, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. The highlight of my softball career was when us Loveland High girls won state in 2004. After high school softball I decided to not move forward with going to college to compete, instead I decided to go to community college for a degree that I eventually realized wasn’t for me.
This is when I pulled the trigger on a passion that I have always had in my life- cooking. My mom is the one that I give credit to for encouraging me and teaching me most of what I know for baking and cooking. I enrolled into the Culinary School at The Art Institute of Colorado in January of 2010 and boy I didn’t know what roller coaster of an experience I was getting into. Early mornings, late nights and too many burns to count. This was just the tip of the iceberg. I won’t be going into too much detail yet about how I became a drug addict and almost got kicked out of school, that’s another post, but seven months into my schooling I had to get clean if I wanted to keep pursuing my dream. I’m now 11 years and four months clean! In 2012 I graduated and got my dream job at Chimney Park in Windsor, the best fine dining in Northern Colorado. I bounced a bit from job to job, randomly moved to Alamosa in 2014 where I was recruited to be a sales rep for Sysco foods, a big girl job.
So now I’m living back in my hometown doing a job that wasn’t cooking, but I still got to help others in the restaurant industry. At this time in my life, I thought that I had made it. I was making pretty decent money for my age and was able to travel quite a bit for training in new cities I’ve never been to. The best part of my career at Sysco was finding my husband. Ray and I have now been together for 4 years now with four dogs and three cats which you will see pictures of all probably way too much!
Now is 2022, I am working a remote job, starting this blog and just became an owner of a food trailer. We have so many dreams and goals that sometimes they are hard to manage, but we are making it happen. We realized that we were not getting any younger and this is what we have always wanted to do, eventually have a restaurant of our own and this is the first step of that journey.
I’m guessing you’re wondering what this blog is going to be about. Well, it’s going to be whatever I want it to be. I want to take you through my life and show you what I have learned and have been faced with to maybe help someone else go through whatever that may be. I’ll be posting recipes that I have worked diligently on, some art and craft related posts, gardening with some health and wellness sprinkled in. You’ll learn what I have gone through and what I have learned from the many experiences and people in my life. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do and please feel free to reach out to me, I would love to connect and grow with you through this journey. My door is always open.
Thank you and I love you!
Gabby
